For Immediate Release: Equality Texas Announces New Chief Development Officer

ProfessionalAustin, Texas – Equality Texas is pleased to announce the appointment of Collin Acock as the organization’s new Chief Development Officer. Collin joined the organization on June 1st and brings with him a decade of experience in nonprofit fundraising.

Collin is the former Director of Development of the Texas State Historical Association where, under his leadership, he built strong inter-departmental relationships to better utilize TSHA’s scholarly resources and increase contributions. Prior to TSHA, he was the Development Director for the Long Center for the Performing Arts in Austin.

“Collin brings to Equality Texas outstanding skills and a proven track record in nonprofit management and fundraising,” said Chuck Smith, Equality Texas CEO. “He is an excellent communicator who will provide leadership at every level of the organization. We are pleased to welcome him to our growing team.”

Collin Acock received his B.A. in English from the University of Texas at Austin and M.F.A. in Dramatic Writing from Carnegie Mellon University. As a playwright and screenwriter, he finds ways to weave storytelling into the fabric of what he does. His professional and community activities include, among many others, serving on both Membership and Outreach Committees for the Association of Fundraising Professionals – Austin. Collin lives in Austin with his husband Shane and their dog Jackson.

The Equality Texas Executive Search Committee engaged the Los Angeles-based firm Michelle Whiting & Associates (MWA) to assist the organization in its search process. MWA is an accomplished nonprofit consulting group whose comprehensive chief executive and chief development officer recruitment efforts have resulted in successful leadership placement at over 70 organizations throughout the country.
