Austin, TX – On Monday, August 4, the Senate State Affairs Committee will hold a hearing on Senate Bill 7, the latest version of the anti-trans bathroom bill. This legislation attempts to ostracize trans people from public spaces by micromanaging where Texans pee.
Since the special session started, cisgender women spoke out to say that the bill not only harms trans women but opens all women to invasive gender inspections before being admitted into the toilet. Black Texans spoke about the harms of Jim Crow and challenged lawmakers to reflect on the similarity between assigning spaces by color or by gender identity.
